Cardiology Technician

Cardiology Technicians are an intricate part of Allied Health Care Professionals. They are needed in hospitals, clinics, private offices, pacemaker clinics and cardiac rehabilitation centers. Technicians are able to perform EKGs, Holter monitoring and Stress Testing, all with recording, scanning and interpretation.

This Program Includes:

• Anatomy and physiology
• Pharmacology
• Electrophysiology
• Arrhythmia Recognition
• EKG recording and interpretation - Electrocardiograph is the reading of the electrical impulses of the heart. An EKG can detect vital information regarding a person's heart, including blockage, skipped or extra heartbeats.
• Holter Monitor and Scanning - A portable monitor is worn by the patient recording all of the heart's activity. A disc or tape contained in the monitor is then scanned by the technician to detect any abnormalities.
• Treadmill Stress Testing - This test consists of the patient being monitored by an EKG machine while exercising on a treadmill. The EKG is then able to detect any abnormalities of the heart under stress conditions.

Certification

After completion of this course you will receive your diploma from Allied Health Institue. You will also be eligible to take the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) examination for your certification.

Schedules

This is a seven-month program.
Classes will meet one day or two evenings per week.
Day classes will meet from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
Evening classes will meet from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Requirements

High School Diploma and Transcripts, College Transcripts or G.E.D. with Scores.
